Bio
Black and Blue Ink. is a hip-hop duo from Northern New Jersey. It consists of K-Maculate [lyrics/vocals] and MooN ShynE [lyrics/vocals/beats]. Both were members of the D.i.c.K. hip-hop trio from 2000-2002, which consisted of them and Flight f.k.a. Doc L.
The group split at the beginning of 2002 and MooN ShynE f.k.a. iLL cHrome purused a solo career in both producing and in emceeing. The split was amicable after releasing two albums. With ties to both members, he created a few songs with Flight and K-Maculate f.k.a. K-DoGG on the two solo albums MooN ShynE had released. Both Flight and K-Maculate had decided on focusing on careers and education. In the interim, MooN ShynE co-founded the arts/entertainment collective 5Families (no affiliations to the mafia organization) in 2003 and created the production company MooN sHizzLe Productions as his one of the five branches.
Six years after the split, K-Maculate returned to actively recording and has once again joined forces with MooN ShynE to create Black and Blue Ink., a name consisting of double entendres: Black and Blue being (1) the two most common colors of pen ink, and (2) the colloquial term for a bruise, while Ink can be interpreted as (1) liquid used for writing or (2) a homophone of "Inc." which is short for Incorporated.
With renwed vigor the two emcees gathered the knowledge they've gained over the years along with the hip-hop sensibilities and traditions they've kept, and are now actively recording new material. The sharp lyricism of the D.i.c.K. days is still apparent in their verses, and they are coupled with MooN ShynE's and Brian Bullion's [5Families/MooN sHizzLe Productions/STFU] hard hitting production. "Black and Blue Ink.," their debut EP, was completed at the end of August 2008 and is now available for purchase by clicking here. Black and Blue Ink. is also available for open mics and shows in the tri-state area; if you are interested in having Black and Blue Ink. perform at your venue, please contact Black and Blue Ink. using the link above.
Right now, the duo is heavily promoting their EP through passing out their single as a Free Promo: "The Fundamentals" with "Henny Pop" as its B-Side. An official remix of "The Fundamentals" [dubbed the Street Rat Remix] was also included. If you are interested in obtaining a free promo single CD before purchasing the album, please contact Black and Blue Ink. using the link above and an official copy of the promo will be mailed to you at no charge.
